Grown In Different Mediums - Microgreens use either a thin layer of soil or paper towel to plant seeds into before growing. Whereas sprouting can be done using just a jar and water. Sprouting therefore is cheaper to start and produce food.
Sunlight Requirements - Sprouts have the characteristic off-white color stalks, to keep white they must be kept in darkness. By introducing them to light they would produce chemicals to turn them green. In contrast when growing microgreens they are exposed to direct sunlight or UV lamps which turn them green.
Time To Harvest - Sprouts can be eaten within 3-7 days, as soon as you see the sprouts grow they’re ready. Whereas with microgreens you can expect to take between 10-14 days. To have a constant supply you’ll need to plan ahead!
